Q: What is the maximum limit of funds I can apply for?
Q: How many grants are offered?
A: This varies on the round. When the new round is announced, it will specify how many grants are available.
Q: If successful, how soon can I have access to the funds?
A: Applicants do not receive the funds in cash – activities that have been approved for the use of funds will be paid for by Brisbane Marketing on behalf of the recipient.
Q: How old do I need to be to apply for the grant?
A: Applicants must be at least 17.
Q: I live outside the Brisbane City Council boundary, but can I still apply?
A: Applicants must live within the Brisbane City Council boundary to be eligible.
Q: I have applied for the grant previously but was unsuccessful, can I reapply?
A: Yes. Successful previous recipients of the grant are ineligible.
Q: I do not currently have a business, am I still eligible to apply?
Q: I have submitted my application but want to make a change, how do I do this?
A: Submitted applications cannot be edited; you will need to submit a new application. The most recent application will be considered.
Q: I’d like to use my funds for advertising of my business, is this ok?
A: Funds cannot be used for business registration costs, operating or management expenses and product development or living expenses. Funds must be used for purposes associated with developing entrepreneurial and business capabilities.
Q: What can I use the funds for?
A: Funds can be used for activities such as attending a startup event or conference, obtaining professional advice, membership of a startup support program, entry into education programs or funding for trade missions. Other expenditure is at the discretion of the judging panel.
Q: My business partner and I would like to apply for the grant together, how do we do this?
A: Grants are for individuals, not for businesses.
Q: When will I be notified if I have been successful?
A: Applications for Round Six will open on 1 March and close on 31 March at 5pm. Applicants will then be shortlisted and, if successful, contacted for an interview.
