Round 8 of the Lord Mayor’s Budding Entrepreneurs Program is now open, offering up to $50,000 in grant funding for 10 innovative entrepreneurs.
The program targets Brisbane’s emerging startup scene and encourages Brisbane based entrepreneurs to take the next step with their technology startups.
Recently the program assisted several entrepreneurs in developing their ideas and ventures that will soon offer a wide range of services in the health, tuition, legal and tourism fields.
Since launching in 2013, the Lord Mayor’s Budding Entrepreneurs Program has provided $300,000 in funding to 61 up-and-coming tech entrepreneurs to help get their startups to the next level.
Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said that the program continued to grow and was a great example of Brisbane’s competitiveness and creativity.
“The program offers each applicant the chance to receive up to $5000 towards access to professional development, consulting services and networking opportunities,” Cr Quirk said.
“The Budding Entrepreneurs Program cultivates innovative ideas from individuals who come from all walks of life.”
Brisbane Chief Digital Officer Cat Matson said the program allowed more startups than ever before to tap into development funding aimed at assisting them to scale their businesses reasonably quickly.
“More and more we are witnessing the entrepreneurial mindset teaching even the most traditional of us to be more flexible in our thinking,” Ms Matson said.
